Sightseeing of Wellington

Introduction

Wellington is the capital of the New Zealand. Since the capital of NZ has changed from Auckland into Wellington in 1865, Wellington has been the centre of its politics. there are some universities, museums, and theatres, so Wellington also has the side of the centre of NZ's culture. In addition to that, there are many stylish cafes, restaurants, and galleries in Wellington. Therefore, Wellington is a kind of mixed city, which has old beautiful buildings and modern creations with harmony.

Sightseeing

I researched about sightseeing of Wellington. At first, I introduce the Beehive. The organ of this name is its shape. As you see, it is like a nest of bee. The beehive is NZ parliament, where politicians argue. It is used since 1977, and it is a very modern building. The Beehive does not open to the public, but you can go to the neighboring library or assemble hall for free. However, there are some places where you are not allowed to take any pictures.

Thanksgiving Day in Canada

It is well-known that Canada has thanksgiving as well as America, and I’m introducing how Canadians spend thanksgiving. In Canada, thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October. I suppose that you know its date is different from US. The date of US is the forth Tursday in November. It is because the beginnings are different. However I don't refer to its history. If you want to know about it, please click this link. During this celebration, family and relatives gather and eat meal. This meal is quite the same to America; Pumpkin pie, stuffing and so stuff. Of course, the main is roasted turkey with cranberry sauce. According to my research, there are some people don’t eat turkey because this turkey is usually cheap and doesn’t taste good. However, every year people eat, because it is a tradition. It is also often for couples to watch the autumn leaves or participate in outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and hunting. We can enjoy eating meals for free or at a discount in some restaurants of center city.

Oktoberfest

This annual festival is held at Munich in German. Every year, more than 6,00,000 people from all over the world are coming. This is traditional festival which lasts since 1810. At this festival, lots of glasses of beer are made and applicants consume more than 6,000,000 liter beer for 16 days. Many people wear Bavaria Costume.

Movies

During this summer vacation, I watched an impressive movie. It was Full Metal Jacket by Stanley Kubrick. I watched it two times. First was no sub-title, Seconds was on sub-title. This movie is with Vietnam War. I had expected this movie deals with gory battle fields all. In fact, it focuses on various influences in people with process to train the Marine Corps in Vietnam War and describes a young man grows up through the story.
It has mainly two parts. First part describes situation that a training instructor named Gurnney Sergeant Hartman makes young trainees the Marine Corps to send them a battle field. This story is unfolding with pain and madness. Two men are main heroes. Their names are J.T.Davis and Lenard Rorance. Their relationship was like brothers, but Lenard is very bothering parson for everyone because he is very self-confident and fat. He can’t catch up with the others in training so the others are punished as a collective responsibility. All the time they do anything, Hartman shout out to them with various obscene slangs fluently. All of them are about to go mad because of its training hardness, so Lenard is bullied by everyone, to my regret, contains Davis many times. Davis looks like feeling guilty, but Lenard’s spirit is wounded deeply. From here, he is changing to bad direction. He starts to lose his humanity. As a result, he shoots his instructor to die by a hidden shotgun by the perfect way he learned there. After that, he commits a suicide by shooting his head. The first part finishes here. Second part describes mainly about Davis who is sent to a battle field. But I hardly remember this part because the first part is so shocking. I want really you to watch this movie.

My Summer Vacation

During this summer vacation, I went back to my home town Ishikawa at the end of July, and I stayed for almost one month. I used Shinkansen to Maibara station, and I was going to exchange an express train bound for Kanazawa station, but I was lost at Maibara because I was in a very crowded place. There were very different people; businessman, traveler, student and so on. Also I was not accustomed to how to exchange train, so I got very nervous then. That’s why it was an adventure to me.

After I got to my house, I went to a nearest book shop everyday, because no friend from high school or junior high school came to here, so I felt very boring. To my happiness, some friends came to Ishikawa, so I played with them everyday. We enjoyed watching movies or playing TV games daytime, and fireworks at a park at night. The park was very small that it was a little bothering to some people because there are some houses, so they were covered with smokes from our fireworks and left bad smell. I am so sorry.

At the end of August, an annual summer festival performs for three days. There are many any kinds of night shops. I love to eating apple with candy. I was looking forward to it very much. To my regret, rainy days never stopped during the days. Fireworks festival was cancelled and there were less shops than last year so I was very disappointed.

Diet

When I came to think of diet, I thought people who can say 'I'm on diet.' is very happy, because there are many people suffering from FAMINE. Do you know how many people have been disappearing by famine per day? According to WHO, about 25,000 people disappear by famine, to my regret, three quarter of them is under 5 years old. Moreover, 850,000,000 people is suffering from malnutrition and famine because they don't have enough foods or pure water. Taking it into consideration, It seems to me that it is stupid to be on diet. I think it is important to keep our body slender or slim, but one of the reasons why we can do diet is that we are just alive and in very good economic and financial conditon, so we should more appreciate it and then we can find happier life than diet.

Lifestyle Disease

There are a lot kind of foods that attract us very much, but these foods are usually greasy or high calories because of its process. Generally speaking it is easy to get fat today because we can't consume its calories completely and taking high calorie foods make it easier for us to get illness. Being fat is not healthy and these situations cause many serious sickness for example, Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, Dyslipidemia and so on (usually it is called Lifestyle disease).To my regret, it have been spreading out during young people, so I searched some measures which prevent it.

Exercise
I found a interesting site about prevention of lifestyle disease by exercises. According to this site, it is important to move our bodies even if little in our daily life and this site introduces some unique ways to exercise. I think these means is light exercise for busy people. Let try it!

Food
I think How to eat meal is the most essential way to keep us healthy and if we observe it, we never get sickness, but it is little difficult because there are so many delicious and attractive foods, so I think it is more important to be conscious what we should eat and be able to make healthy meal that doesn't bore us. I searched about healthy foods and menu and found some interesting site about it. I will show you a surprising site for me, Let's check it!

Japan is famous for SUMO. I think that SUMO is the most exciting sports in this world. I will show you some battles of SUMO, but these movie clips are little different from normal matches of SUMO. I am sure that SUMO is the hardest sport in the world!

This is my favourite picture I found on English web page. Title is “separated at birth”. A man and one chicken are only watching each other at separated places. I think it is funny because his hair is like a cockscomb. I think he wants friend even if it is animal. They are possibly brothers. It makes me think about many things.


Interesting Information about Laughter
The proverb says laughter brings happiness. I found an interesting Japanese site about bringing up children by using effects of laughter. According to this web site, laughter prevents parents form cruel treatment to their children, and Akita Prefecture started a plan to teach parent how to derive their children’s laughter.
